Hopkins serves the $110 billion automotive parts and accessory aftermarket as well as the $14 billion RV market.  These markets have seen steady annual growth rates in excess of the four percent growth in the automotive aftermarket and are projected to continue based upon underlying fundamental strengths.  Hopkins's products have exceeded the industry growth rates due to the emphasis on towing and RV's.  The growth and potential for the market has favorable trends driven by the large pent up demand for the estimated $61 billion of under-performed vehicle service, the continued propensity for "do-it-yourself" consumers to customize their vehicles with accessories and the aging "baby boomer" population spending more on leisure time activities involving towing and RV's.

Founded in 1953, over 50 years ago, the company has expanded well beyond its origins as a manufacturer of mechanical headlight aimers to serve the broader automotive and RV aftermarket.  The current product lines include Towing Products (e.g., trailer wire kits, adaptors, brake controls, RV tow brakes, RV levels, etc.), Wintercare Products (e.g., snow brushes and brooms, ice scrapers, shovels, etc.), Fluid Handling Products (e.g., funnels and spouts), Storage and Organization Products (e.g., vehicle organizational items), and Auto Safety Products (e.g., high-intensity back-up bulbs, back-up sensors and parking guidance systems).  Carrand Companies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hopkins, is the leading developer of everyday cleaning accessories (e.g., brushes, squeegees, and nozzles; outdoor household cleaning tools including hand-held, flow through and extension brushes, etc.  Additionally, the company markets a line of automotive aftermarket accessories, including mechanics gloves, fans, horns and cable ties, etc.) and has a long-term licensing agreement to produce Mr. Clean branded automotive cleaning products. Hopkins takes its product to market primarily through the mass merchants (Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Sam's, Costco, etc.), auto specialty retailers (AutoZone, Advance Auto, CSK, O'Reilly's, Pep Boys, etc.), RV distributors (Coast, Stag-Parkway, etc.), home and hardware (Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, ACE, TruServ, etc.) food and drug (Albertsons, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc.). In the markets that Hopkins participates, they enjoy strong leading market share positions:,,,, or

Headquartered in a 330,000 square foot facility in the East Central Kansas city of Emporia, Hopkins is easily reachable from Wichita, Topeka, and Lawrence, Kansas.  Driving time from south suburban Kansas City is about one and one half hours.  The Emporia facility employs approximately 275 full time individuals. From 110 to 130 temporary employees are added to the production area each summer and fall to accommodate seasonal production requirements.   A second manufacturing site, located in Juarez, Mexico, employs 350 persons.  Carrand Companies, Inc. employs 50 persons in Rancho Dominguez, California. Hopkins has quadrupled in size since 1997 due to acquisitions and organic growth and is expected to double again within three years, supported by a strategic acquisition program and an aggressive internal product development initiative.
